Finally — A Red-Dot-Ready Scope Ring for the Vortex Sport & Vortex OPMOD
Share
Most shooters love the Vortex Sport and Vortex OPMOD 30mm scope mounts for one reason: they’re affordable, reliable, and solid for an entry-level LPVO or mid-range optic setup.
But they all share the same problem…
They’re not supported for red-dot mounting.
There’s no factory option. No simple upgrade path. And no way to run an offset red dot without buying an entirely different mount — until now.
At Homestead Defense, we designed a 30mm scope ring specifically for the Vortex Sport and Vortex OPMOD mounts that finally solves this problem. If you’re running these budget-friendly mounts and want to add a red dot, you now have a clean, rugged, American-made option that bolts directly onto your existing setup.
Two Models Available Right Now
To start, we’re offering two footprint options:
These cover the two most common red-dot platforms in the firearms world and give you the flexibility to run whatever small optic you already own or plan to buy.
And this is just the beginning — more footprints are coming throughout 2026, including additional micro-dot and enclosed-emitter patterns.

Why We Built This Scope Ring
The Vortex Sport and OPMOD mounts fill a big gap in the market: a lightweight, dependable scope mount that isn’t $300+. They’re perfect for guys running mid-tier LPVOs, hunting setups, or general-purpose rifles.
But if you wanted to run a red dot with them?
You were out of luck.
No OEM support.
No aftermarket options.
Nothing.
Your only choice was to ditch your current mount and replace it with a premium $250–$300 setup just to gain the ability to add a red dot. Then add another $120–$150 for the red-dot mounting ring or offset module on top of that. And THEN buy the actual red dot.
That puts most shooters well over $450–$600 just to run a backup dot.
For an entry-level rifle? That never made sense.
We built this ring because shooters needed a way to upgrade the gear they already own — without draining their bank account.
How Much Money You Actually Save
Here’s the real-world breakdown:
Typical method (before our product existed):
- Premium red-dot-compatible scope mount: $250–$300
- Add-on red dot ring / module: $120–$150
- Micro red dot: $150–$300+
- Total: $520–$750+
With the Homestead Defense 30mm Red-Dot Scope Ring:
- Keep your Vortex Sport / OPMOD mount
- Add our red-dot-ready ring: a fraction of the cost
- Add your preferred optic
You immediately avoid $250–$450+ in unnecessary spending.
Instead of replacing your whole mount just to attach a dot, you upgrade what you already have.
American-Made, Built for Real Use
Every ring is CNC-machined in-house here in Kentucky.
We use quality 7075-t6 aluminum, tight tolerances, and every component is built to hold zero under recoil and field abuse. No gimmicks — just practical gear.
If you rely on your rifle for work, chores, hunting, or homestead defense, you need equipment that simply works. That’s exactly why we built this.

A Better Way Forward
The Vortex Sport and OPMOD mounts were never meant to run red dots. But shooters needed them to — so we made it happen.
If you want to stay on a budget without sacrificing capability, our 30mm red-dot-ready scope ring finally gives the Vortex community the upgrade it’s been missing.
More footprints are coming in 2026, more products are in the pipeline, and Homestead Defense is continuing to build gear for real-world rural use — not hype.
