A New Optic Mount for the Ruger 10/22 — Built on the Homestead
The Ruger 10/22 has been a “back-forty work rifle” for generations: reliable, simple, and always ready for chores, pests, or a walk across the property. But one thing it’s always needed is a rock-solid, American-made optic mount that works with the Aimpoint Micro footprint.
That’s exactly what we’re building.
This is the Homestead Defense 10/22 Aimpoint Micro Mount (Prototype v2) — designed in the shop, tested in the field, and built with the same standards we use on our own rifles.
We’re aiming for a Spring 2026 release.
Why We’re Making This Mount
Most 10/22 mounts fall into one of two categories:
- Cheap imported plates that don’t track straight, loosen, or use soft hardware.
- Overpriced boutique mounts that are strong, but cost more than the rifle they’re going on.
We wanted something different:
- Small-batch
- Machined in Kentucky
- Fits any T1/T2 / Aimpoint Micro footprint
- Sits low for a clean cheek weld
- Locks in without walking or shifting
- Made from real American aluminum
This mount is built for practical work — the kind of rifle that lives behind the truck seat or rides on the tractor, not a safe queen.
Prototype Design Details
Our prototype uses:
- 6061-T6 billet aluminum
- Torx hardware
- T1/T2 footprint compatibility (Aimpoint, Holosun 403/503 series, Sig Romeo 4, etc.)
- Clean recoil lug pocket
- Machined chamfers and radiused edges

Built for the Way We Actually Use Rifles
Like everything we’re building at Homestead Defense, this mount comes from real use:
- walking the fenceline
- checking the garden
- driving the tractor
- keeping pests off the orchard
- carrying a rifle in the truck all winter
Gear should be simple, rugged, and honest. That’s what we’re building here.
